Keri Russell Is Ready for Her Second Act

Keri Russell may be best known as a former teen star idolized by millions of teens in the late 90's, but now she's back and breaking new ground in her new indie hit film, Waitress.

Russell faded from the Hollywood scene following the end of her hit television series, Felicity, in 2002. Having spent most of her young life in front of the cameras first in The New Mickey Mouse Club and later in Felicity, the actress was suffering from a severe case of burnout and needed a break from Hollywood. Now she's ready to return with a new husband, a baby on the way, and a hit new film with a tragic real-life backstory.

In the film, Russell portrays a pregnant waitress in a small Southern town who is try to save up enough money and courage to leave her abusive husband. With the help of some friends, an affair with her gynecologist, and a talent for making pies she finally finds her ticket out of her turbulent life.

Recently her former Felicity writer-director-producer J.J. Abrams interviewed the star about her new life, the film, and the upcoming arrival of their first child.

On burning out following Felicity:

"When Felicity was over, I moved to New York and just kind of acted like a kid for a year. I read books. I went out dancing. I got drunk. I walked home in the snow. Having time off just gave me perspective."

On have a life outside of her work:

"I think that now, because I'm a few years older, I just don't care as much about everything. When you're younger you want everyone to think you're so cool. That just doesn't matter to me as much anymore. I have this whole life outside of work."

On deciding to return to acting now:

"I just didn't know what I wanted to do. I was looking into colleges. I thought I might go back to school. I thought, I'll see if I can get into Sarah Lawrence. I'm interested in a lot of different things. I think there were a lot of things I could have done. But I didn't know that I wanted to work again until the right job came up."

On looking forward to becoming a mom herself:

"I've always known that I wanted to have kids, so it's not a hard idea for me. If anything, I'm surprised I even waited this long. I'd love to have more than one. But what I'm most excited about is just the idea of starting life."

On what she's doing in anticipation of becoming a parent:

"We just went to Bora Bora. We took this amazing trip together just because we said, 'Let's go this before --' not 'our life is over,' but you know. So we've been trying to do all these last-minute trips. And we've been reading. Not much else. It's been a really easy, natural process."

On if she'll let her kids act:

"Oh, Jesus. Not if they were a kid. No way. Look, I think I turned out okay. But, honestly, I think I'm the rare exception. Really, I just think that acting is a hard business. But that being said, the people who are great in this business are some of my favorite people in the world. They're interesting. They're emotional. They're very smart. I've met some great ones. But there's so much that comes with this business. Money and fame attracts so many different types of characters.

Paul Judd Just Wants To Have a Nice Life

Actor Paul Rudd is busy promoting his new film, Knocked Up. The star recently talked with Entertainment Weekly about the film and about his treasured time with his wife, Julie Yaeger, and 2-year-old son Jack.

Rudd has steadily been building an ever expanding resume and is best known for his roles in Clueless, The 40-year-old Virgin, and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, and Friends where he played Phoebe's husband Mike Hannigan. Paul says he likes being that guy that you recognize but don't always know his name. Having witnessed the life of an A-lister when he was sharing the Broadway stage with Julia Roberts last year in Three Days of Rain he admits that he's perfectly happy being "kind of on the outside."

He says, "I just want a nice life with my wife and kid and work on things that are fun and challenging, y'know?"

He was a big contributor in helping create his new film, Knocked Up, since writer-director-producer Judd Apatow would pick the married father's experiences to develop the film. Apatow admits, "I called and asked, 'What about you really irritates your wife?' He admitted he never read the baby books when his wife was pregnant."

Rudd currently lives in the West Village with wife and stay-home mom Julie and son Jack. The father-son duo spend their days together choosing sons for their air-guitar sessions.

Rudd says, "He loves Loudon Wainwright III. He's really into The Shins' new record. Last week he was terrified of a Nickelback song, and now he loves it. Though I don't admit that readily."

Another shared love for the two is their addiction to TiVo. He says, "I'm a total victim of technology. At a hotel if we miss something on TV, Jack says, 'Again!' to tell me to rewind like we do at home."

Hot Hollywood Dads and Their Kids

In honor of the upcoming Father's Day holiday, In Style is featuring a section on Hollywood dads and their children from photographer Joyce Ostin's new book on the subject. Here's the highlights and photos:

David Duchovny with Kyd and Madeleine

"David is truly a family man," says Ostin. "His life with wife Tea Leoni and their children seems loving and content... Both children showed their love for their daddy. They couldn't stop hugging and playing with David. I saw seriousness in David's eyes that made him all the more intriguing as a father as well as an actor."

Eric McCormack with Finnigan

"The terrifying responsibility of fatherhood is outweighed only by how much freakin' fun it can be," says McCormack.

Rod Stewart with Alastair

"It seems that my parenting skills have improved with experience," says Stewart. "I've learned that you've got to just let your children be who they are and celebrate their individuality."

Michael J. Fox with Sam, Aquinnah, Esme and Schuyler

"My dad was an old-fashioned, school-of-hard-knocks kind of guy. He grew up during the Depression, came of age during World War II, and then spent 25 years in the army," he says. "He was really a different kind of father, and person, than me. Tougher. But he was loyal, and family came first... Even though he thought actors were hippies and show business was another planet, he drove me to L.A. from Canada to find me an agent because that's who I was and what I wanted. I miss him."

Mekhi Phifer with Omikaye

"I witnessed some of the cutest moments I have ever seen in my life watching Mekhi and his son, Omikaye, together," says the photographer Ostin, "little expressions and feelings about his dad were uncanny. I will never forget that adorable little boy sitting in his daddy's lap smiling and feeling so proud. What a pair!"

Lionel Richie with Miles, Sofia, and Nicole

"Every time I have had the pleasure to interact with Lionel, he has been the most gracious gentleman," says Ostin. "His smile and voice are sure to put anyone at ease. His gentle way is the 'Lionel style.' His talent has never gotten in the way of his being a loving, sweet man and a caring father."

Laird Hamilton with Reece Viola

"This shoot was really memorable," says Ostin. "It was right after my mother-in-law, Evelyn, passed away. Laird was so spiritual and cosmic and open to listening to me talk about her. I knew this gorgeous, unbelievable athlete was truly a star with a huge heart. When he put his daughter in his hands, the look of love and fun he was having was striking."

Jim Belushi with Robert, Jamison and Jared

"Fatherhood is like beekeeping," says Belushi. "The honey is so sweet, but be careful of the sting."

Flea with Sunny

"Flea was on the road with the Read Hot Chili Peppers but [he] was home on the day I happened to call," says Ostin. "He told me to come over in 45 minutes... His baby was fast asleep. When she woke up, she was full of smiles. Her big blue eyes and sweet smile make her the perfect combination of mommy and daddy."

Bruce Willis and Ashton Kutcher with Scout, Tallulah, and Rumer Willis

"Thanks to Demi this shoot happened," says Ostin. "As she pointed out to me, the message in this photograph is a very important one. The more love you give children, the better. Even though their family may not be a traditional one, there is certainly not a lack of parenting or love."

Madonna Apologized to Costner for Truth or Dare Slam

Kevin Costner forgave Madonna for making fun of him in her 1991 documentary Truth or Dare after she apologized to the actor on-stage a decade later.

In the documentary, Costner visited Madonna backstage after a concert and made the error of describing the show as "neat." As soon as the actor left, Madonna pretended to stick her finger down her throat and say, "Anybody who says my show is 'neat' has to go."

"Yeah, I was embarrassed by it and kind of hurt by it," Costner says to the L.A Times. "I just went back there because I was asked to go back. And I found the best word that I could. I never called her on it or whatever."

A decade later, Madonna, much to Costner's surprise, made up for her actions. "She did a really beautiful thing," he says. "She was performing [in L.A.] about three or four years ago, so I decided to take my daughters to see her. I just thought this is somebody they should see. I didn't call anybody for tickets, I just got tickets and we went down.

"And about the third song in, the lights were down, and she said, 'I want to apologize to someone.' And all of a sudden my face starts to get hot. ... She says, 'I want to apologize to Kevin Costner.' She just said it very simply. Ninety-eight percent of that audience didn't know what she was talking about. But I really respected that, and it showed me the power of just keeping your own counsel for a long time. ...

"Whatever possessed her, whatever was inside her, she came to her own decision. And a bigger thing came out of some kind of humiliation. I never wrote her to say thank you, but I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart, and that meant more to me than you could ever know."

Martina McBride Talks About Parenting

Country singer Martina McBride reveals her keys to successful parenting in this month's Family Circle. McBride has three daughters Delaney, 12, Emma, 9, and Ava, 2.

On keeping her kids from getting spoiled:
"I try not giving them everything they want. Aside from books and art supplies, the older girls have to buy stuff with the money they earn doing little jobs around the house. My husband, John, and I aren’t materialistic – I drive a ‘92 Honda–so the girls still get excited when we stay in a nice hotel room or eat at a great restaurant."

On making some time for herself:
"When Delaney and Emma get home from school. They’ll watch Ava while I lie down for a 20-minute nap. I take a bubble bath and read after the kids are in bed. It’s important to relax and recharge so you have energy and a positive attitude to give everyone else."

Rosie O'Donnell will not be returning to The View, ABC announced today.

"Therefore, we part ways, thank her for her tremendous contribution to The View and wish her well."

Barbara Walters released a separate statement saying: "I brought Rosie to the show. Rosie contributed to one of our most exciting and successful years at The View. I am most appreciative. Our close and affectionate relationship will not change."

Jenny McCarthy's Triumph Over Stubborn Baby Weight

Jenny McCarthy came to the public's attention as the result of her smoking body and goofy humor. The combination of the two made her a star on MTV's Singled Out.

Following her exit from the show, the impact of a difficult marriage, pregnancy, and subsequent divorce packed on extra weight that the actress just could not shed.

"I felt like a big, fat couch potato," McCarthy says.

Thanks to her mother's urging, the star joined her local Weight Watchers group. After a year of hard work watching what she ate and increasing her activity level, McCarthy was able to get back into her old jeans.

"I got to my goal and maintained it," she says. "Now summer is coming up and I'm going to be hitting the beach, so I have to keep up on it!"

"I'm considered a lifer. I know my points. I see fruit and go, zero! But Krispy Kreme doughnuts are seven. I don't want to blow it on one doughnut."

She's still not a big fan of working out, but does sporadic jogging and Tae-bo to help keep her 125 pound goal weight.

Even though she admits the exercise help, she says, "It's what you put in your mouth that keeps your jeans fitting."

Dean McDermott's Ex-Wife Opens Up About Losing Her Husband to Tori Spelling

I was a difficult time for Mary Jo Eustace, the ex-wife of Dean McDermott, and her children Jack and Lola. Now the relatively unknown player in the relationship between Tori Spelling and McDermott opens up about their breakup in an essy for new anthology called, The Other Woman.

An excerpt of the article appears in this week's issue of People Magazine:

"When Dean called me from the set [of his TV movie], he told me how great he was getting along with his costar Tori Spelling. She was fun, caring and much hotter in real life. I assumed this was good. Before he left, jokes flew at the prospect of working with the daughter of a Hollywood mogul. I suggested he befriend her. "Who knows?" I laughed. It might be good for his career.

"Now here he is, back. We're on vacation and I'm wearing my bikini with saggy faded bottoms. I know something is wrong. "Have you met someone?" I ask. He nods yes. "Is it Tori Spelling?" He nods. "We're soulmates," he says. "She loves me unconditionally."

"What conditions?" I scream. "You've only known each other three weeks."

"I look down at my baby daughter. "We just adopted a baby." The phrase single mother pops up in my brain. I start to feel weightless as I cross the divide between together and alone.

"I'm not leaving the kids," he says. "I'm leaving you."

"I begin to sob. I actually begin to worry that maybe it's all because I look fat. Maybe he was undecided, and this dreadful bikini sealed the deal."

Kevin Costner Talks About Being an "Older" Dad

Kevin Costner has proven to be an actor difficult to pigeon-hole in a town that likes their good guys to stay good. Now he's ready to change audiences impressions of him again by playing a schizophrenic psychopath in the upcoming Mr. Brooks.

Despite the dark role, Costner remains a good guy at heart. Costner recently talked about his family, becoming an "older" dad, and his favorite place in the world. At the time of the interview, Costner was awaiting the birth of his fourth child Cayden Wyatt Costner with wife Christine. The actor has three children four children from previous relationships: Annie, 23, Lily, 21, Joe, 19, and Liam, 11.

On whether he'll do anything different as a dad this time around:

"People talk about how, when they have kids again later in life, they are so much better at it. But I feel really good about the kind of dad I was the first time around. I was there for all the little moments, like when my kids forgot to sing in their school play because they were too busy waving at me. I can't wait to have those moments again."

On whether it was easier to raise girls or boys:

"I've always been really close to my girls, but I can't say I see much difference - except that my girls will occasionally make me a sandwich and my son won't."

On what he likes to do with his kids:

"I love shopping with my daughters. Recently, I was in New York with Annie, my eldest, and she was so worried about having nothing to wear, because she's just starting out on her own and she's on a budget. So we went on this huge shopping spree. My son Joe is a great songwriter and my daughter both have bands, and I really enjoy singing with them too."

On teaching his kids what's important:

All of my kids are showered with love, which is what's important. I didn't have much as a child, but if you'd asked me back then, I though I had everything. We had this dinky backyard in Compton, CA, and I thought it was a kingdom I've always taught my kids that they have to work hard and stand on their own two feet."

On being an "older" dad:

"I don't kid myself about certain realities. I won't be around to see as much of [Cayden's] life as I'll get to see of my older kids' lives. So with him, I really want to be there for every single moment that I can."

On his favorite place in the world:

Aspen, without a doubt. When I was little, family vacations were spent camping. The scent of the Coleman stove and the wind and the pines - I never got that out of my system. So when I became successful, I knew I needed a place where I could have that feeling again. It's such a great sensory overload out there - so many trees, so many stars."

Eva Longoria on Her Wedding and Baby Plans

Eva Longoria and Tony Parker are mere weeks away from their Paris nuptials. The Desperate Housewives star recently talked with Latina magazine about their relationship, the wedding, and her future baby plans.

On their seven year age difference:

“I don’t know if it’s because he’s French or what, but he’s actually far ahead of me in years with a lot of things – he’s so disciplined and way more intelligent about money and investments,” she says. “Then there’s things in which I’m ahead of him, but we balance each other out really nice, as it should be.”

On their Parisian wedding which will reportedly take place on July 7 at a castle north of the city, the Chateua de Chantilly:

“It will be a very traditional wedding... the Mexicans take over Paris!”

On her family take on interracial dating:

“I thought it would be an issue, because of our community, but not once has it ever come up with anyone in my family, even with my real traditional Mexican grandma... they love him for who he is.”

On possibly adopting:

“We both have big hearts and the finances to do it, and we want to be able to provide an environment of love and stability to a child who otherwise wouldn’t have that,”

On hosting the upcoming ALMA Awards:

“I actually didn’t want to do it at first. We had to make it reflect our community now, which is very integrated and complex. There are so many colors within our culture, and I found it really important to make the show all-inclusive from white to Hispanic to black, whatever it may be, and just celebrate our culture by showing other cultures.”

On empowering Latinas in America:

“We need to increase the number of women who go to college. We still have high pregnancy rates and high percentages of high school dropouts. Everything is intertwined... it’s up to us to lay the groundwork for future generations.”

Nancy O'Dell Reveals Daughter's Name - Ashby Grace

Nancy O'Dell revealed the name of her baby's name during a sneak peak inside her nursery on Access Hollywood. Her daughter will be named Ashby Grace Zubchevich.

Nancy explains the origins of the unique name: "Ashby was my grandfather's name. I looked it up and I confirmed that it was dual gender and it means strength like the ash tree. Grace is a family name in Keith's family and we both said from when we first met each other that if we had a little girl we would want Grace as part of her name."

She also joked that combining an "A" first name with a "B" last name may have some extra benefits for the little girl.

"We figure with an 'A' name, she will have a chance to be first in line for some things -- at least where they don't go alphabetically by last name," Nancy laughed.

Ashby will be welcomed by two brothers from husband Keiths previous marriage, Tyler, 11 and Carson, 7.

Her eyes filling with tears, Jolie added: "But I'm holding on to my family really tight at this moment because of that and trying to be — to be as good a woman as I can be in my life."

Anne Heche Fires Back in Divorce Case

Anne Heche has fired back at her ex-husband, Coley Laffoon, in their divorce case claiming her husband only desires porn, poker and money.

Heche blasts Laffoon's claim to being a full-time stay-at-home dad and says that he actually leaves their 5-year-old son Homer "with nannies and babysitters while he plays ping-pong, backgammon and poker and views pornography online.

"He holds a poker game at his home every Thursday night and allows Homer to participate," the Men in Trees star responded in a Los Angeles Superior Court filing.

Heche has requested that the judge grant her sole legal and physical custody of their son. She also asked the court to give Laffoon visitation privileges and to deny his request for support.

In his court filing last week, Laffoon said that Heche demonstrates "bizarre and delusional behavior."

"I have serious concerns about whether she is psychologically capable of caring for Homer for an extended period of time,” says Laffoon.

Laffoon is seeking primary custody of Homer and at least $33,000 a month in support. Laffoon is a former videographer, who says he quit his job to take care of Homer.

In his court papers, Laffoon claims that he is entitled to child and spousal support "in the amount sufficient to maintain the marital standard of living and child support consistent with (Heche's) income."

The star says that he initially spoke to his daughter Zoe, now 25, "like he talked to his friends" until she started to repeat the expetives back to him. The breaking point was when he overheard her telling friends "f*#$ you" when she was only three years old.

Jackson tells British film magazine Little White Lies, "I never edited my speech with my daughter, and I talked to her liked I talked to my friends but she could not answer me back the same way.

"I recall hearing when she was three talking to her friends and saying 'f*#$ you'. She understood the context of different words. We took her to a wedding once and was asking her about some food and she replied, 'What is that s*&$?'"

Katherine Heigl Plans to Adopt

Katherine Heigl recently talked with USA Today about the evirnoment at Grey's Anatomy, her new film "Knocked Up", and her future family plans. Some highlights:

On if she's ever had a pregnancy scare:
No, I've never had a real pregnancy scare. I've had paranoid panic attacks. I've always been very, very careful because for me, it's not something I'd want to have just happen. I would like it to be planned. But there have been those moments where, if I'm just even half a day late, I'm like, ' What's going on?? Noooo! '

On whether the difficult birthing scene in the movie and sharing in her sister Meg's delivery has impacted her desire to have her own kids:
Oh, yeah. I've always planned to adopt anyway, but that definitely reinforced my want to. I'm done with the whole idea of having my own children. [Childbirth] doesn't seem like any fun. I don't think it's necessary to go through all of that.

On the fallout of the homophobic slur used by Isaiah Washington and her friendship with T.R. Knight:
I was ultimately grateful that it opened up a dialogue. To me, I wasn't making a political stand. I was making a stand about hurting people's feelings. It's very simple in my mind. You do not actively seek to hurt other people's feelings. I don't care what their sexual orientation, race or gender. You don't do that. We are all human beings, part of the human race, and we need to be compassionate and giving and kind with one another. Enough with the Michael Richards. Enough with the Mel Gibson. Enough with this. It's disgusting. The world is still very bigoted. Go see Borat. I didn't laugh during that movie. I cried. I was horrified.

On whether she wants both T.R. and Isaiah to return to the hit show:
I do. I think Isaiah very much values his job and his character, and he takes it all very seriously and he's very passionate about it. I'd hate to see him lose that, though I do think two strikes and you're out.

Mira Sorvino Struggles with Being a Working Mom

Mira Sorvino faces the same challenges as other working moms -- trying to balance motherhood with her job of acting.

"I hate it," Sorvino said at an event in Santa Monica to promote shelter adoptions of dogs and cats. "I feel so guilty because my kids cry so hard when I go to work. I know there are millions and millions of working women out in the world who face this same dilemma, but it just kind of kills me, and I don't know what to do about it."

The Oscar winner and husband Christopher Backus have two children, Mattea Angel, 2, and 11-month-old Johnny.

Sorvino tryies to accomidate the children into her work environment as much as possible and even recently had her trailer outfitted with kid-friendly decor.

"I've tried to make it as much fun for them as possible on the set," Sorvino said. "I went to FAO Schwarz and got all these things to make the trailer as fun and club-housey as possible. I made a tent with fabric, bought a beanbag chair and put together an art table where my daughter could paint. But days on the set are a minimum of 12 hours and that's hard for them."

"I'd love it," Sorvino laughed, "if I was independently wealthy and could stop acting and just focus on being a mom and activism."

"I'm working this summer. I'm in Prague for a few months, then I take two months off, then I work for two months. And then I take a year off," Jolie said today while promoting A Mighty Heart at the Cannes Film Festival.

Jolie did not reveal whether whether partner Brad Pitt will be joining her in taking time off from his career.

The couple are currently staying at their villa on the French Riviera while she promotes her new film, A Mighty Heart, and Pitt attends the premiere of Ocean's Thirteen.

Jolie that she had recently had her pilot-license upgrade, but is hesitant of flying with the children. "Brad has his pilot's license and I just got my instrument rating, so we're moving forward with that but we haven't had a lot of time because of the kids and with Pax coming home," she said.

"I wouldn't fly the kids at this moment. I would only fly the kids if I had been actively flying for a few months and when I'm not at all rusty."

Ricki Lake Finally Wins Her Weight Loss Battle

Once tipping the scales at 250 pounds, Ricki Lake reveals her new trimmer body and gives US Weekly the details on how she shed those final, stubborn 25 pounds.

The single mom of sons, Milo, 10, and Owen, 5, recently made her triumphant walk back into the public eye on The View last week and proudly showed off her hard earned efforts. Within hours she was flooded with requests from the weekly magazines to tell them how she finally won her two decades long weight loss battle.

The final push came with an invitation from the Tribeca Film Festival to show her new documentary, The Business About Being Born, which honors home birth and midwifrey at their annual festival.

She says, "I looked at the calender after the movie got into the Tribeca Film Festival. I was so excited about people seeing the film, but I also wanted to feel great in my skin when I walked down the red carpet on April 29. And I did. I started February 7. I was so committed. I just wanted people to notice me."

She started out in February weighing 150 and the final result: "One-twenty-three! My size 10s were tight when I started. I had a pair of pants that I couldn't get up and now they're swimming on me. My body changed quickly. I went shopping for the premier thinking I was a 6. I was told I'm a 4. I'm like, When am I going to wake up?"

How did she do it? She started using a food delivery program called, Fresh Dining that delivers her daily meals every morning. She also stared hiking four times a week. Like many others, she's not a fan of gyms and tries to get her exercise in outside!

She does see a positive side in her past weight struggles. She admits, "I think I have no wrinkles because I always had fat on my face. Really skinny girls age so fast."

Four years following her divorce, Ricki is also turning her head towards the future and venturing back into the dating market. She says, "I want to have fun! I'm not looking to marry or have more children. The biological clock isn't ticking. I have money and I don't need someone to take care of me. I just need someone who can take care of himself. If you know someone, let me know."

Introducing Kim Fields Son Sebastian

She admits that she had a very uneventful pregnancy and the two hours of labor makes other moms jealous. She says: "I didn't have one day of sickness."

She credits the quick labor with staying healthy throughout her pregnancy, mainly through walking and yoga. She says: "I'm fully aware that women are jeasous. I don't know why God smiled on me, but I'm grateful as all get out that he did."

So far life with Sebastian has been pretty mellow as he spends most of his time sleeping. "When he's alerting us that he wants his diaper changed or needs his gub, he's very casual about it," Fields says.

And when will the couple get married? She says with a smile, "he'll be our ring bearer."

Debra Messing Makes Her TV Return

Debra Messing makes her return to TV later this month just a year after the final wrap of Will & Grace. She returns in the USA Network miniseries, The Starter Wife, based on the Gigi Levangie Grazer novel. In the film, Messing stars as Molly Kagan, a 40-year-old housewife whose Hollywood-executive husband ends their marriage via cell phone just weeks before their 10-year anniversary and the subsequent expiration date of their pre-nup. She recently sat down with Redbook Magazine of her life following the end of her iconic series, life as a mom, and where she's headed now.

Here are some highlights:

On putting the character of Grace away:
I don't think she'll ever go away. The last season was traumatic because we knew it was ending, so the anticipation of saying good-bye was drawn out and both painful and exhausting. It was almost a relief when it was over. I went to Cape Cod with my family and relaxed. And I did not want to work for six months.

On what she brought from Will & Grace to the mini-series:
I was married to Will & Grace for eight years. So like Molly, I was starting a new chapter. There was a level of confusion about identity, and I asked myself similar questions: Who have I been? Who do I want to be? What life do I want to live?

On filing in Australia for four months away from her husband:
We've been together for 16 years, and the longest I've been away from Daniel prior to this was three weeks. And not only apart, but we were on other sides of the world -- like, "What time is it there?" "The next day!" Thank God for iChat. Plus, I was on the set 16 to 18 hours every day. It was the most grueling work experience ever. Out of the four months of shooting days, I had one day off.

On how being a mom changed has changed her life:
I feel like a different person. To see the world through a child's perspective, where everything is wondrous, is the miracle of children. You get to bear witness to their discovery of the world. And it's an hourly thing. Three is an amazing age, and then add boy to it! The energy is out of control. And just when you think it might dissipate, he just pumps up the volume a little bit more.

On the biggest surprise for you about being a parent:
I remember the first few months after I gave birth, I was enraged that my closest friends and family did not tell me how hard it was. I said, "Obviously it's a miracle and I love my child, but why didn't you tell me how exhausted I was going to be? And how difficult the hormonal changes are?" And they all said, "If we told you the truth, you wouldn't want to do it."

Pick up the June issue of Redbook for the rest of the interview.

Patrick Dempsey Just Wants to Make His Wife Swoon

Patrick Dempsey is featured in the new issue of Redbook and talks about selecting family-friendly roles, coping with success at a young age, and keeping his marriage on track.

Some highlights from the interview below:

On having two boys after having had a little girl:
It's such a different game. Sullivan is a little colicky, so that's awful. I can't look at the pain on his face -- it drives me crazy. They're quieter, too. They suffer quietly. When my daughter was colicky, she would scream for hours on end. Boys are just different. You have to reeducate yourself as a parent.

On what he's learned with daughter Talula:
I've learned that the bonding comes in waves; it's incremental. I think most men are freaked out by that because they're expecting it to be immediate. With a mother, it's almost immediate. But it's okay to take the time to bond with your child. It's going to take 12 months before you start to get into this relationship.

On what he learns from being a father:
That's the fun thing. My daughter is really into planets this week. She asked, "What is Mars?" And I said, "Well, let's look up Mars." Kids are amazing. They take you outside your comfort level because you ask yourself, How do I answer that question for them? You think back to your childhood and it's like, I don't want to give them that. I want to give them this. My life is my kids.

On what he wants to experience with the boys:
Sports, skiing, cycling. That's the great thing about my daughter now. She's a great buddy. We go cycling; we can do that. We can have great conversations. I'm a few years out with the boys. I waited to have kids later in life, so my physical prowess is waning, but I've got to stay in shape for them -- so they can't kick my ass at 3 years old.

On his concerns before the arrival of the twins:
My biggest concern is making sure I have enough time to give equally to all three children. And with the schedule I'm keeping right now, that's very hard. I've been spending more time with Talula, because obviously the mother spends the most amount of time with the newborns.

It's interesting having children later in life. We've sort of gone and slayed our dragons, and my wife was adamant about having more kids. But I said, "To do that, someone is going to have to stay home. We're going to have to have help." And she said okay.

On making his wife, Jillian Dempsey, swoon: I hope I still make her swoon! Sometimes I think, God, would Derek Shepard do this? because I am certainly not a perfect male at this moment. Just trying to provide and communicate and let her know how beautiful and important she is to me--I think those things make her swoon.

On returning to romantic comedies:
I don't want to do violent movies right now because I think there's too much violence in the world, and I don't want to add to that. Romantic comedies at this point -- we're at war, we're in a horrible place worldwide, and I want to do something that is going to help people escape. Enchanted is something I did for my daughter. I wanted to do something that kids can go see, and is fun for adults as well. My daughter went to the set, and to this day she says, "When is the princess coming back?" because there's a big ballroom scene in the movie, and she spent hours watching her father work and be surrounded by princes and princesses. What a great gift to be able to give her that.

On his first shot at stardom:
Mentally, I never really wanted success until I was in my 30s. Quite honestly, I think I sabotaged myself in my 20s because I felt I was too young and didn't realize what was happening. But there was a time when I didn't think it was going to work out. Like, Wow, maybe that was the best period in my life.

On his parenting goals:
I don't like the notion of turning on the TV and walking away and not being present. I'm not perfect—some days you have do that. Or you have a project. My wife is very good about the art projects and things like that to keep Talula entertained. But now, with the boys it's going to be different. I don't know how to do a three-on-two.

More From Angelina Jolie's Readers Digest Inteview

US Weekly magazine has a more highlights from Angelina Jolie's recent Readers Digest Interview.

On how meeting Brad changed her life:
I met this amazing person, and we realized we had very similar views on how we wanted to live our lives. It's happened quickly, with so many children. Yesterday, picking up the kids from school, Brad turned around in the car, and there were three of them. He couldn't stop laughing. We love them and are having a great time.

On getting pregnant with Shiloh:
Before I met Brad, I always said I was happy never to have a child biologically. He told me he hadn't given up that thought. Then, a few months after Z came home, I saw Brad with her and Mad, and I realized how much he loved them, that a biological child would not in any way be a threat. So I said, "I want to try."

On bring Pax home:
The first two days, he cried a lot. I hired a translator, and he would explain what was going on. The first night, I slept alone with him. I was expecting him to wake up and scream, but he woke and just stared at me. I handed him a stuffed animal, and we walked around the room pointing at things. By day three, he didn't want me to put him down. I think he got used to the reality that somebody loves you and that's what a mommy is.

On the family adjusting to the new addition:
We had a long talk with Mad about the fact that his brother is going to be scared and that Mommy is going to have to give him attention. And we've tried to figure out a lot of private time for each of them. When everybody goes to bed, we give Mad time. When everybody is at school, we give Shiloh time. In between, Z and Pax each get special time. And on Sundays we have a big family sleep, when the boys get in bed with us and we watch a movie. It started with Mad, then Pax, and now Z is desperate to move into the bed. We're talking about having to build a bigger bed!

On Brad's adjustment to family life:
He couldn't go with us to Vietnam to get Pax because he was working. But they got together very quickly. I think Pax, after seeing how much Zahara and Mad and Shi love Brad, understands that he's his daddy. Everybody seems to be safe in his arms. He makes everybody laugh. He helps everybody.

On the topic of more children:
More biological, more adopted.

On disciplining the kids:
When it comes to the boys, it's Brad, and with the girls, it's me. It's not intentional, but Z can pretty much get anything she wants from her dad. Brad's like a strong father with the boys.

On the death of her mother:
I'm one of those people who walk around as if it's fine, and then suddenly I don't know why I'm crying over my breakfast. My mother was my best friend. I'm so grateful I had her as a mom. She had cancer for seven years, but she lived long enough to see my brother and I grow up to be quite happy. You almost get the feeling she held on until it was okay.

On finding time to be alone with Brad:
Right now, that's our problem! We hang out. We try to talk over the swing set. We'll have a date night once everybody is settled...we'll get them occupied with a movie and popcorn and try to run off and lock the door for a bit.

On whether she and Brad argue:
Not really. We'll get into issues about global events or something that was just on the news.

On Brad as a partner:
He encourages the right things. If I've had a full day and just really been a hands-on mom, he'll make a point to let me know that's something he's proud of. If I'm writing an Op-Ed, he's the first person to want to read the drafts. I could be dressed up in the sexiest outfit for a photo shoot, and by his behavior, he'll let me know that's nice, but it's nothing as sexy as when I'm home surrounded by the kids or reading books, educating myself. He slows me down to kind of get it right, to relax into the strength of my family and the love.

Brad Pitt Breaks Ground on Green Houses

The groundwork begins today on the first of five energy-efficient homes in New Orleans in a project chaired by Brad Pitt for Global Green USA. The homes' design is an attempt to show that building a green, envirnomental-friendly home "doesn't have to look like a spaceship in the desert," according to Pitt.

The homes are designed to produce up to 100% of their own electricity and are part of a larger development that will include 18 apartments and a community center in New Orleans's hard-hit Ninth Ward. The building is being financed by the Home Depot Foundation.

"What if a home actually created energy instead of consuming it? What if your utility bill could be nothing?" Pitt asks.

Pitt himself is building his own green home, north of Santa Barbara. He hopes that the house will be so efficient and produce so much electricity from solar cells on the roof that it won't need to be tied into the power grid at all.

His desire is that by building environmentally friendly homes can prompt others to do the same and help push America toward sustainability. He doubts that it will be possible without a national initiative much like the goals set by President John F. Kennedy in 1961 for the space program. "It's going to take a straightforward leader to say, 'This is Apollo time! We're going to do this in 10 years!' I'm hoping, I'm crying, for this man or this woman to show up."

If you're interested in building your own "Green" house, Global Green USA, plans on posting the plans of the winning design selected by Brad up on their website later this year.

Brooke Shields Fronts Chain of Confidence Campaign

Brooke Shields is teaming up with Tupperware in a new campaign to encourage women to build their self-confidence through the power of female friendships. The Chain of Confidence campaign and website teaches women to share their experiences and build a network of friendships with other women to empower their lives.

Shields says, "If I give my kids anything, I'm hoping I give them the ability to be self-confident... Our society is not based on that. The advice I'd give to mothers is it's OK to be strong and confident, communication is so important. There's so much more that's important besides your looks."

Sting and Trudie Styler Guily of Shameful Conduct

A tribunal in Southampton, England has found Sting and his wife Trudie Styler guilty of "shameful conduct" towards their former chef Jane Martin. The couple terminated Martin, who had worked for the couple for eight years, while she was pregnant.

The tribunal ruled that the couple had unfairly dismissed Martin and that she had been the victim of sexual discrimination. Testimony had been given that Styler created a "climate of fear" over her staff.

Martin claimed she was forced to work 14-hour days while pregnant and Styler was unsympathetic of the extreme sickness the chef suffered from early in her pregnancy. .

The tribunal ruling said, "(Martin's departure) was so badly mishandled and conducted in such an incompetent manner that the true purpose shines through the subterfuge and calumnious actions seeking to suppress the true facts. Although Mrs Sumner (Styler) tried to distance herself from the various unlawful acts and have them carried out by minions on her behalf, when the evidence is looked at holistically, her involvement is clear.

"She is without doubt the driving force manipulating others to perform her 'dirty work'. The position is aggravated by her lack of courage either to face the claimant direct and inform her she was no longer required or attend the tribunal to give evidence and have her machinations exposed to the light of day through cross-examination."

As a result of the ruling, the couple must pay compensation to the fired Martin in an amount to be determined at a hearing next month.

Styler has released the following statement, "I am devastated by this decision and I will appeal... I wholly reject the tribunal's findings on this issue. Sting and I have been lucky over many years to have worked with loyal and long serving colleagues and staff. Their collective loyalty and long service suggests that the picture of our household which Jane painted, and which the tribunal appears to have accepted, is a travesty."

Johnny Depp Talks About His Daughter's Illness

Johnny Depp is talking for the first time about the recent health scare of his seven-year-old daughter Lily-Rose who is recovering from E.coli poisoning.

"It gave us a great scare," he says. "What got us through this wasn't the strength of Vanessa or me but our daughter and her incredible ability to make us feel OK even though she was very unwell. She was super-strong."

Lily-Rose spent nine days hospitalized with the potentially fatal infection which had caused her kidneys to shut down.

"It was a very bumpy patch but she has come through it beautifully and unscathed and she is now as healthy as she always was. She is wonderful." he says.

"It was a reminder to us of how lucky we are to be able to breathe, walk, talk, think and surround ourselves with people we love."

Next up for Depp is the release of the third Pirates of the Caribbean film later this summer. He admits that he loves the character of Captain Jack Sparrow and credits the character with stabilizing his career and family.

"He [Captain Jack] and Pirates have afforded me and my family a certain luxury in that we are able to live a little more comfortably and it will be something that will reverberate for my kids and their kids," he admits.

She says, "We've tried to figure out a lot of private time for each of them. When everybody goes to bed, we give Mad time. When everybody is at school, we give Shiloh time. In between, Z and Pax each get special time. And on Sundays, we have a big family sleep. We're talking about having to build a bigger bed!"

This is the first time she has talked openly about the decision to add biological daughter Shiloh to the family. She reveals, "I always said I was happy never to have a child biologically. (Brad) told me he hadn't given up that thought. Then … after Z came home (from Ethiopia), I saw Brad with her and Mad, and I realized how much he loved them, that a biological child would not in any way be a threat."

Jolie also confirmed that the adoption of Pax was a result of Shiloh's birth and says that after her arrival "somebodyy in the house looked like Mommy and Daddy. It became clear to us that it might be important to have somebody around who is similar to the other children so they have a connection."

The timing of finding a stable life with her family is bittersweet since her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, died in January. Jolie says that she finds comfort in the fact that her mother lived long enough to see her "grow up to be quite happy."

Jolie says, "Yesterday, picking up the kids from school, Brad turned around in the car, and there were three of (their kids). He couldn't stop laughing. We love them and are having a great time."
