Kevin Costner Makes His Kids a Part of His World

Kevin Costner new son may be only a few weeks old, but the actor is already babyproofing his home to incorporate the tot into his family's lifestyle. ng room coffee table when he suddenly notices its four sharp corners.

"That's going to have to go," he says of the family coffee table cluttered with parenting magazines and books as he sits down for an interview. "Maybe we'll get something round. The kid's going to hit his head on that for sure. Just a matter of time."

Costner has taken the same long-term view of his career which now spans three decades.

"I've found that people in the business want to define you quickly," he says.. "It's all about pace now, about being fast. I'm not that. I'm a plodder."

Having welcomed son Cayden Wyatt Costner, with wife and model Christine Baumgartner earlier this month, Costner says the baby will be a fixture on his film sets in the future. Costner also has three children from his first marriage and one from a previous relationship.)

"The children are always welcome in Christine's and my world," he says. "I take the kids wherever I go. You don't have to revolve your life around your kids. You make them a part of yours."
