Hollywood power couple Brian Grazer and Gigi Levangie-Grazer are no more.
The producer, whose latest release is the upcoming The Da Vinci Code, has filed legal papers for separation from his writer wife after eight years of marriage.
The Grazers have two children: Patrick, 2, and Thomas, 6. In documents filed Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court, Grazer, who is seeking joint custody, cited irreconcilable differences.
The documents also stated that the couple had a prenuptial agreement and that they share no community property.
Grazer and his producing partner in Imagine Entertainment, Ron Howard, won Best Picture Oscars in 2002 for A Beautiful Mind. Their Da Vinci Code is being kept under tight wraps until its first press and public screening at the Cannes Film Festival, May 17. It opens in the U.S. May 19.
Levangie-Grazer wrote the screenplay for the 1998 Julia Roberts movie Stepmom and the 2005 novel The Starter Wife, about a woman whose husband of nine years, a Hollywood studio executive, unexpectedly dumps her for a starlet.
Speaking to PEOPLE about her book, Levangie-Grazer said of Hollywood marriages: "A lot of men don't want wives; they want assistants. I know a married producer who only feels close to two women: his 28-year-old assistant and his daughter."
