Kate Hudson Talks About

Kate Hudson is the cover girl for the April issue of Elle UK and talks about her new film, Fool's Gold, ex-husband Chris Robinson, and her "type".

Some highlights from the interview:

On ex-husband Chris Robinson:
“The other day, I told someone my husband was coming over, and they said, ‘You mean your ex-husband’ and I said, ‘Oh, whatever!’ I do love my ex. Even if your romantic relationship no longer works, your family one still can. Chris and I did not look at this from the beginning as any kind of traditional marriage: It’s about being a family forever — and we are. Whatever man I end up with, I will always love Chris.”

On her taste in men:
“I don’t have crushes on the cute guys… I have really bizarre taste in men! You know what the common ground is? Brains. I like witty and funny — I always love writers.”

On her personal dating strategy:
“If a guy doesn’t call you, why not call him? Look, I’m not giving advice here. Who really knows anything about relationships? But if you want to see a guy, I see no problem in saying to him, ‘Let’s get together.’ If men have a problem with that and don’t call you back, then that guy has no balls and you’re better off without him!”

On her own self-image and hopes for another baby someday:
“I have no boobs… And I’ve always had a bit of a booty. I do not like to look at photos of me. I sweat if forced to watch my own movies. It all makes you far too self-conscious… I know I won’t have this body forever. I would like to have another child some day.”

On what you didn’t know about her:
“I’ve always been a dancer… I took ballet from the age of 3 to 13, then got into jazz dance. Now I have a dance instructor several times a week and do Pilates.”

On being a target for thee tabloids:“This [level of interest in my private life] is totally new for me! I was married, happy and oblivious to all of this. The second I became single is when it started. According to every magazine, I’m with every other guy — except the person I’m actually interested in!”

So then I put on rubber boots and I literally get into the trash can and I stomp on the trash and [my son] Deacon thinks it’s so great. We call me ‘the mommy trash compactor.’"

She added, “Sometimes I'll sneak in and look at the neighbor's garbage cans and see if it's kind of empty. I'll wait literally until the middle of the night when the children are asleep and I'll take my extra garbage and I'll put it in the can.”

Angelina Jolie Writes About Her Visit to Iraq

Pregnant Angelina Jolie has written an op-ed article titled "Staying to Help in Iraq" for the Washington Post. In the piece, the actress and mom-of-four argues for an increase in the "financial and material assistance" going to Iraq.

"My visit [to Iraq] left me even more deeply convinced that we not only have a moral obligation to help displaced Iraqi families, but also a serious, long-term, national security interest in ending this crisis," she wrote.

"Today's humanitarian crisis in Iraq -- and the potential consequences for our national security -- are great. Can the United States afford to gamble that 4 million or more poor and displaced people, in the heart of Middle East, won't explode in violent desperation, sending the whole region into further disorder?"

Gwyneth Paltrow Records PSA for UNICEF

Gwyneth Paltrow has filmed a public service announcement for UNICEF to help raise money to prevent children being born with the HIV virus. The video made its debut at the official UNICEF website yesterday.

Paltrow narrates the four-minute dramatization of a poem by Simon Armitage that talks about mothers passing on the HIV virus to their unborn children.

"According to UNICEF, a baby is born with HIV almost every minute of every day somewhere in the world. The virus is passed from mother to child during the birth or pregnancy," said Paltrow in a statement released during the film launch. "I have just found out that this can be prevented for less than $2 yet very few women in the poorer countries of the world can get the medicine they need to ensure their baby is born free from HIV. I hope that this new short film will raise awareness and funds about this issue and UNICEF will be able to reach every woman with the vital care and medicines they need."

Colin Farrell: My Son Is Exactly The Way He Should Be

Colin Farrell is thankful for the early diagnosis of his 4-year-old son's neuro-genetic disorder, Angelman Syndrom, and looks at his experiences with him as a gift.

"He's nothing but a gift," Farrell said about son James on the Irish interview show Tubridy Tonight. He added: "As far as I'm concerned he's exactly the way he should be."

"Angelman's is a neuro-genetic disorder," he explained. "The 15th chromosome is dormant. It affects their fine motor skills. They say that one in 30,000 children is affected by it."

The actor first revealed his son's disorder last fall after reporters started to question his involvement with the Special Olympics. James had been diagnosed before his first birthday which led to an early diagnosis for the family.

"I've been very lucky that it was early because he started having seizures at about eight or nine months," said Farrell. The doctors initially thought James had cerebral palsy but soon he was diagnosed correctly and "we got early intervention," said Farrell.

The genetic disorder, which can impair speech, movement and balance. As a result of continued intervention James walked his first few steps last fall, when he was 4.

"It's just different," said the actor. "It's not different to me. He has his own path. He's just brilliant."

Farrell is a proud dad who shares custody of James with ex-girlfriend Kim Bordenave. "I didn't talk about my son [but] I felt like I was betraying him, like it could be misconstrued as shame, which would be terrible, because he's such a celebration," says Farrell.

"I look around and I see people who move perfectly, who walk with grace, who speak with great diction and clarity and a great use of the English language and we're all miserable f---ers – including me, at times.

"And then I see this fella who doesn't move the way what's perceived to be 'normal' is, and he's as happy as can be."

So far he has found himself as a dad much different than he originally expected. "[Renee] is complete hands-on mother," he says of his wife as he lugs a bulging diaper bag. Some highlights from the interview:

On how this pregnancy is different that her first:"It has been different. Just the way I'm carrying and the way I feel. And also I have a baby to take care of at the same time. On one hand I don't really have time to focus on me and my pregnancy because I'm too busy with Liam. Liam's into everything. He's trying to walk now and he's crawling everywhere. It's been a little more challenging this time around."

On how Liam is adapting to her pregnancy:
"I show him my belly. He grabs my belly and he puts his mouth on it and kisses it. I tell him there's a baby brother or sister in there, but I don't know if he completely understands."

On having Dean help out:
"It's getting to the point now where it's getting really difficult to hold Liam for an extended amount of time and Dean's just right in there. In the morning he's getting him out of bed, he rocks him to sleep at night when I can't stand too long with him. He's just been amazing."

On deciding to write her memoir, sTORI TELLING:
"When I started writing the book, I was pregnant with Liam and it was kind of like my life was coming full circle for me. I was so happy. I had found the man of my dreams. We were expecting our first child. It was like my life had been - in my mind - it was an emotional roller coaster to get to the point where I was at. I'd finally found complete happiness. Because of that it made me the woman I am today and I wanted to share my story at that point."

Tori Spelling Spills Her Secrets In Her New Book

Tori Spelling is revealing the details of growing up in Hollywood, becoming a teenage star, her first marriage and divorce, and meeting her soulmate.

Here are some highlights:

On 'her years on Beverly Hills, 90210:
"I had an insta-crush on Brian Austin Green. Shannen Doherty, Jennie Garth and I became friends ... I cheated on [my first boyfriend] by hooking up with my costar Brian. Brian was the only guy on the show my age. We had something going (or not going) over the years we worked together. We were always fighting, making up, having fun, and hating each other. We were just young."

On the cast of 90210:
"The center of this high school clique was Shannen and Jennie. Shannen had everything, but she could be arrogant and carefree. Jennie was outspoken when she thought Shannen was out of line. Sometimes they got along, but there were explosions. Once, they got into a fistfight ... For the most part, the cast and crew functioned as a close family. And in the course of the ten years the show was on the air, everyone in the cast pretty much slept with everyone else. We all would laugh about it years later."

On meeting husband Dean McDermott:
"I'd been instantly attracted to men before, but this was different. It was love at first sight. I fell so hard ... I thought that was adorable. Then I noticed he had a wedding ring. When someone asked, he pulled out photos of his children. And -- oh, yeah -- I had a husband too. It was fun to flirt, but I knew nothing would happen ... But: Dean and I went to a bar after dinner. And we spent the night at the Cartier Place. The following day when I woke up next to Dean, I had no regrets. Something was really wrong with my marriage. Not only because I slept with this guy—though that certainly wasn't a positive sign—but because I didn't regret it."

On telling ex-husband Charlie Shanian their marriage was over:
"I told him that I'd never been in love with him. I loved him and he'd been a friend to me, but I married him because he was a great guy, a guy who took care of me. Charlie didn't want to hear it. He kept saying, "Where's all this coming from? We have a perfect relationship." Then he turned to me. "Did you cheat on me?" I said yes. He said, "It was with Dean, wasn't it?" I said yes. He said, "I should have known."

On having plastic surgery in the 90's:
"If knew the styles were going to be the way they are now, I wouldn't have gotten my boobs done in the '90s. The clothes now wear so much better when you're smaller. In the '90s it was all about big boobs in halter tops."

Michelle Williams Wonderland Interview

An interview that Michelle Williams gave to Wonderland magazine shortly before Heath Ledger's tragic death last month has hit the newsstands. In the interview, the actress talks about their split, their daughter, and being a mom.

Some highlights:

On her split with Ledger last September:
"When you’re in a relationship with somebody who is also a public personality then it doubles the attention from the media. When you minus that equation it’s just less enticing. That’s been a real bonus. It’s the plus side of the break-up for me. It was so pervading, it got bad there for a while. Every time I walk out of the door I still worry. That’s what is so silly about it: even if the paparazzi aren’t there, you wonder if they are. I’m not good at that stuff. I need to get better at it. It really used to affect me."

On how becoming a mom has changed her:
"I feel like I didn’t have any relationship with my body before Matilda. Well, I did, but it was just a bad one. After having my daughter I can’t judge myself in the same way. My body has done this totally miraculous but utterly ordinary thing. The downside is that my vocabulary has shrunk to the size of a pea. Since having a kid I just don’t have the same access to the world. I don’t see as many shows, I don’t go to many movies and I hardly read any books anymore. I’m lucky to make it through a book a month. So you start to develop in a much more non-verbal way, which can be so frustrating. Also there’s been a lot going on in my personal life and part of me is… I don’t know. I shouldn’t talk about it but it’s like I’m re-emerging back into the world or something."

On balancing work and being a mother:
"It’s not easy. Last April I was over in London doing a movie called Incendiary with Ewan McGregor. It’s about a woman grieving after losing her husband and son in a terrorist attack. It was a brutal role and arduous: six-day weeks, 14 hour-days. I was like the walking dead towards the end. Matilda would visit me everyday on-set for lunch and I’d race home to put her to bed. My only days off were Sundays and as much as I’d want to pass out, I’d try to take her out somewhere fun so she didn’t associate me with boredom. The only time that is really my own these days is after I’ve put her to bed and until I go to bed. That’s about two hours."

On looking forward to her 30's:
"I don’t really have a concept of my 30s. Obviously so much has changed for me in the last few months that I don’t really have an idea of what my life is going to be. I thought I knew certain things and it turned out that I didn’t so I don’t really try and anticipate so much anymore. I’m not making any bets on the future. I feel like I’m just starting to catch up to my age. 27 years old sounds about right now. For a long time I didn’t really relate to my age because I was working so much when I was 16 and I had a child at 24. I always felt way too young for my situation. Now it’s starting to even out."

On being a workaholic:
"Sometimes I wonder but I’m very happy at home just reading a book or pottering about. I love domestic life. I’m really my mother’s daughter. I like needlepoint, folding laundry and baking bread. I can be happy doing that stuff for a long time. But right now the work is so good and the opportunities are so remarkable - they’re what I’ve always hoped for - that it’s hard to pass up. Reese Witherspoon Talks Kids, Divorce, and Where Her Personality Comes From

Reese Witherspoon's latest film, Penelope, features a young girl who lives life as an outcast because she has a pig's snout for a nose. She appeared on Good Morning America to talk about the film, her kids, and getting made fun of as a child.

Some highlights from the interview:

On being made fun of as a child:
“Those are sort of formative experiences. I wouldn’t want my children to miss out on any of that teasing and bullying. Don’t you think it kind of makes you who you are — when you don’t make the soccer team?”

On kids today being overpraised:
“That’s the thing that drives me crazy about today: Everybody wins the award, everybody’s the MVP? No! They’re not, OK? I distinctly recall the two weeks of crying because I didn’t make the volleyball team. But it made me interesting, you know?”

On life after her divorce from Ryan Phillipe:
“I feel very grateful. I’m really lucky… I’ve had a lot of ups and downs. I’m not going to lie and say it was easy. It wasn’t easy. But I’m finding some peace.”

On being the highest-paid actress in Hollywood:
“I think you only see the success because that’s the thing that screams the loudest. The failures don’t talk so loud. I’ve had movies that were stinkeroos!”

On being grateful for her awkward childhood:
“I was always really short and really underdeveloped and had big Coke bottle glasses. I think that’s where I got a personality from, man. I wouldn’t give any of it back, not a day.”

Ryan Phillipe Moves on From Divorce

Ryan Phillippe is trying to put his divorce from wife of seven years Reese Witherspoon behind him and move forward with his life. In the March issue of W Magazine, the actor describes the period following his separation and subsequent divorce as "the darkest, saddest place I had ever been."

"It was a struggle," he says. "There were a good four or five months of not being able to get out of bed. It was the worst time of my life."

"You get through it," he adds. "It's a process that's not easy, but I get less and less sad about it every day."

The actor's focus during the divorce was its impact on his two children, Ava, 9, and Deacon, 4. "I wanted to take time to make sure that my kids were okay and to build a new life that was going to be suitable to being a single parent," he says.

One thing he is being especially cautious about is his relationship with actress Abbie Cornish whom he met while filming the upcoming Stop-Loss. He does not want to see her labeled "the other woman."

"I had difficulties in my relationship, and in my marriage, long before I ever met her," he admits. "She and I are close friends, and as far as if there is any future, that is not where we are at now."

"That is what other people like to say or like to assume," he added. "As far as I'm concerned, it's a friendship, and we are getting to know each other in a really difficult situation."

Moynahan clarifies: "It wasn't difficult at all. I didn't have any morning sickness, I didn't have any nausea, I didn't put on any weight ...."

Mia Hamm and Nomar Garciaparra Split the Parenting Duties

Soccer legend Mia Hamm and husband, Nomar Garciaparra, have found a method to separate the parenting duties for their twin daughters, Ava and Grace, that is working for them.

Besides night duty, the Dodger shortstop also shares diapering dutie with his wife. He admits, "With two you have to. There was no manual for that. But that doesn't bother me."

Naomi Watts Talks to Glamour About being an "Older" Mom

In this month's Glamour Magazine, Naomi Watts talks about being an "older" mother, siblings for son Alexander, and . Some highlights from the article:

On meeting her fiance, Liev Schreiber, at the age of 36 and starting a family:
"My personal belief is that you can’t want it too badly—and I mean that for everything in life. In my early years of auditioning, I wanted [success] so badly, I ended up pushing it away. You can make people feel uncomfortable if you give off an air of desperation. I’ve got female friends who are great catches: They look great and they have successful careers. Men should be rugby-tackling them to the ground! But it can be hard for a woman in her late thirties, because men tend to think she wants a baby right away. At the same time, there are great men out there who are really impressed by a woman who knows what she wants. And that’s what I found."

On the difference of being an "older" mother at the age of 39:
"Well, for one thing, picking him up off of the ground 20 times is different when you hear your knees cracking! Having a child later in life is interesting. From an intellectual point of view, you’ve had a lot of time to do research and figure out how you want to raise him. But there is also something to be said about having a child in your early twenties, when you’re just operating on instinct. My mother had my brother and me when she was 19 and 20. Obviously we’re the best things that happened to her, but she had plans and dreams she never got to fulfill. So I don’t have that feeling of, what am I giving up?"

On adding more kids to the family:
"I do want more children. I haven’t got too many years left! I might not get the large brood that I’ve hoped for, but it would be great to give Alexander a sibling."

Jessica Alba seems to be on the cover of just about every magazine these days promoting her film, The Eye, and talking about becoming a new mom later this year. She is featured on the March issue of Marie Claire talking about being a role model, being bullied, and expecting her first baby.

Some highlights from the article:

On being a role model for young women:
"When I was a little girl, I always wanted someone to look up to. I think identity was a big deal to me because I didn't fit in with one certain race. I always wanted someone who looked like me, who was a positive role model."

On being bullied in school:
"I had a lot of haters. They'd unzip my backpack so my books would fall out. They'd tie my shoes together. They'd 'accidentally' spill lunches on me."

On Hollywood's perception of women:
"There's a lot of pressure on women to fulfill certain fantasies. They expect you to be a little bit of a tart, to flirt with all the men. A lot of women do it. But I'm not doing that. I talk with these guys about their wives and kids right away. When they say inappropriate things, I let them, because boys will be boys, but I'm not looking to participate in their conversations."

Former Full House actress Jodie Sweetin is excitedly awaiting the arrival of her first child with set designer Cody Herpin.

"It’s a scary thing but I’m kind of scared of how much bigger I’m going to get!" she said of her pregnancy at the Nicole Khristine Jewelry party at Social in Hollywood.

Sweetin admits that the couple expect to keep it tame when it comes to the baby's name. She says, "We’re not naming her after any fruits or electronic devices or anything like that. She’s going to have a fairly normal name. We want something different, something cute and girly, but not too girly – a little funky."

So far husband Cody has been extremely supportive: "He goes and gets me all my little cravings like my frozen chicken pot pies and he cooks dinner for me and cleans up the house because I’m exhausted all the time. I’m like, 'I need a nap!' He’s really good about that."

One thing she's hoping to hand down to her daughter -- self-esteem -- which she admits took a while for her to find for herself. (Sweetin battled a meth addiction in her early 20's.)

"I had to learn to just be comfortable in my own skin," she says. "So I hope she’ll learn that a little bit sooner. To just be yourself – that was probably the hardest thing for me that I didn’t learn until I was in my early twenties."

On finding her own place in Hollywood:
"I was always trying to figure out: How the hell am I going to be mainstream? How are people going to accept me? When are the going to get a clue that I am American, that this is what America looks like--people like me who are mixed, have different blood, mixed with different ethnicities? When are the people who are hiring for these jobs and writing these screenplays going to realize that?"

On her reluctance to walk the red carpet at Latin events:
"I'll support those shows, but I can't go on the press lines and have people make me feel bad about myself. Life is too short. I can't change how I grew up, and I shouldn't have to apologize for it. I know I feel close to the Latin community, because that's what I grew up with."

On his desire to show his child the world:
“Well, that child is probably going to fill his passport pretty quickly. Culture and travel’s been the best education I’ve had in my life and my child’s going to have that, hopefully.”

On his girlfriend Brazilian model Camila Alves:
“It’s the first woman that I’ve met that I haven’t met through friends. That doesn’t really happen too often. I saw her across the room and I couldn’t get my eyes off of her. So I invited her over and started making a margarita and then I noticed right away that this was not the kind of girl you just want to wave over. So I got my butt out of the chair, went over there and introduced myself and said, ‘You can come over and bring any of your friends you want to back to our table.’ And that’s what kind of got her to come over in the first place. And I haven’t wanted to ask anyone else out for the last two years.”

On how he sees fatherhood affecting his nomadic lifestyle:
“I do have a trailer. So I can pull it up to any backyard on any coast I want to. I worked hard to get a lifestyle and live in a place where I don’t have to wear a shirt or shoes. I’m going to keep working on it so I can put myself on a beach somewhere on the planet. Yeah, I enjoy the sunshine and I enjoy the summertime.”
