Eddie Murphy Refutes Melanie Brown's Claims

The day after his ex-wife Nicole Murphy and ex-girlfriend Melanie Brown lunched together at The Ivy, Eddie Murphy is finally speaking out about his 4-month-old daughter with the Spice Girl.

In a statement released by his rep, the actor finally "acknowledges paternity of the child Angel, and has paid child support to Ms. Brown as well as covering the expenses of her pregnancy."

The statement continues: "Mr. Murphy and Ms. Brown dated very briefly and never made any plans of ANY sort." Brown has previously told Essence.com that "this was a completely planned pregnancy."

At a press conference earlier this week, Brown's lawyer Gloria Allred said Murphy had not paid "one penny of child support." Brown have filed suit to establish paternity and child support.
