Jenny McCarthy is publically discussing her four-year-old son Evan's autism and plans to release a new book titled, "Louder Than Words: A Mother's Journey in Healing Autism" discussing her experience with the developmental disability.
McCarthy says her son is "hypersensitive to air and water, he’s that hypersensitive. I can’t put any sunscreen on him, at all. So basically I put him outside during the summer, for about a half an hour, then the next day an hour, to gradually build up the exposure."
McCarthy says that the key to helping children with autism is found more in nature than medication.
She says, "I want our children to start each day in silent meditation. I want organic cafeterias, outdoor class sessions... I want it all."

I can't wait for this book. When my son Tommy who is now 6 was diagnosed with Autism the doctor recommended medication but I did not agree to it. He receives 3 hours of ABA and I have changed his diet. He is doing much better.
ReplyDeleteI'm interested to read it. I have read both of her other books and recommend them as "must reads" to every expectant mother I know.
ReplyDeleteI don't have personal experience with Autism, but follow similar organic methods for a chronic issue with my kidneys. I felt cruddy on the medication and just really cleaning out most of the artificial food out of my diet has vastly improved my overall health.
