Sarah McLachlan and husband Ashwin Sood have separated. The couple have been married for 11 years.The singer revealed the news during a promotional stop for her upcoming greatest hits album Closer: The Best of Sarah McLachlan which is due out on October 7.
"I'm separating from my husband, so these are the songs about that," she tells Billboard.com.
"I wasn't planning on saying anything," McLachlan added, "but it's gonna come out at some point. I haven't said anything about it because I've been terrified to, but I figure ... there's no good time to say it, so I just said it."
The couple have two daughters, Ann Sushil, 6, and Taja Summer, 14 months.
