James Brown's Kids Claim Estate Was Mismanaged

The six adult children of James Brown are claiming that the singer's estate has been mismanaged and are petitioning to have the trustees removed.

In an emergency petition that was filed late Wednesday, the family claims that some of Brown's assets are in danger of being "lost or dissipated or stolen."

The irrevocable trust at issue was signed in 2000 and reportedly contains Brown's primary assets including his music rights and home. The trust is separate from the items in Brown's will that was read last week that divied up his personal possessions among the children.

A court hearing is scheduled for February 1.
