Last week Madonna's camp was quick to send out denials that the pop star had adopted a child during her stay in Malawi. Yesterday was a different story when fresh reports came out including a statement by the child's birth father. According to Britain's Sun newspaper, Madonna and Guy Ritchie have adopted a one-year-old boy whose mother had died of complications ater giving birth.
A spokeswoman for the singer in London says: "At this time we are unable to give you official confirmation. We may have an official statement within 48 hours."
The boy's fatherwas quoted in both newspapers as saying: "I am very happy. As you can see there is poverty in my village."
He said: "I know he will be very happy in America. We are told David will be coming back regularly to know his roots."
