Steve Irwin, host of the Animal Planet series The Crocodile Hunter, was killed Monday during a diving expedition off the coast of Australia. He was filming a documentary about the ocean's deadliest animals when he swam too close to a stringray and a stingray barb pierced his chest. Irwin leaves behind wife Terri, 42, daughter Bindi, 8, and son Bob, 2.
On a personal note, my oldest son loves the Crocodile Hunter and thanks to Steve's enthusiasm has created an amazing desire for him to learn everything possible about animals. Carter loves all animals and is planning to become an animal conservationist when he grows up. Steve will be very missed in our household.
