
Japan's Princess Kiko, is likely to have a Caesaren operation prior to her September due date , the Imperial Household Agency said on Tuesday.
Kiko, 39, has been placed on bedrest for a partial placenta previa, a complication in which the placenta becomes implated a lower than normal location in th uterus partially covering the vaginal opening.
"I think a Caesarean operation will be needed and there is a high possibility that the timing (of the birth) will be earlier than originally expected," the spokesperson quoted a palace doctor as telling reporters.
If Kiko delivers a son, he will become heir to the Japanese thrown as no male heirs have been born to the family since 1965.
