Rachel Weisz, 35, gave birth to “a healthy baby boy” Wednesday night in NYC, a close friend of the actress confirms to Us. It is her first child with her boyfriend, director Darren Afronosky.
Though Tuesday was the actress’ due date and temperatures in NYC soared into the ’90s, a very pregnant Weisz and Afronosky were seen walking around SoHo, before stopping for lunch at 12 Chairs restaurant.
“She looked very happy and kept rubbing her belly,” said an eyewitness.
A former teen model, Weisz is now a spokeswoman for Revlon cosmetics. She began studying acting while she was a student at Cambridge University and won an Oscar for best actress for her performance in The Constant Gardener. Other standout performances include The Mummy Returns and Runaway Jury. She will next be seen opposite Hugh Jackman in The Fountain, which Afronosky directed. He also wrote and directed the critically acclaimed film Requiem for a Dream.
