O'Donnell to brave Cold War in TNT series on CIA

Chris O'Donnell has taken a job at "The Company."

The actor has been cast as one of the leads in TNT's upcoming limited series.

Based on Robert Littell's best-selling book, the six-hour series traces the history of the activities of the CIA during the Cold War, telling the story of agents imprisoned in double lives, fighting an amoral, elusive, formidable enemy -- and one another.

O'Donnell will portray Jack McCauliffe, an idealistic Yale graduate who is recruited into the CIA in 1954. The character is described as being fiercely loyal to America and the ideals it is based upon, but politics, betrayal and love will test his resolve.

"The Company" is set to premiere in summer 2007.

O'Donnell has been appearing on ABC's "Grey's Anatomy," playing a love interest to Meredith Grey ( Ellen Pompeo). His recent TV credits include Fox's "Head Cases," CBS' "Two and a Half Men" and ABC's "The Practice." He was nominated for a supporting actor Golden Globe for his role in the 1992 feature film "Scent of a Woman."
