Mamma Gia returns to work
BACK-to-back film roles have marked Gia Carides' return to acting three years after the birth of her daughter, Bridget
Last week, the actor married to Tony award and Golden Globe winner, Without a Trace star, Anthony LaPaglia, celebrated another milestone – her 40th birthday – on holiday with LaPaglia in Sicily.
"We're having an eight-week holiday. We're here in Sicily, and then we're going to cheer Australia at a couple of World Cup games in Germany," said Carides, whose former first grade footballer husband is part-owner of the Sydney Football Club, which won the inaugural A league premiership in Sydney in March.
Carides features in this week's new release teen comedy, Stick It playing the estranged mother of a rebellious teenager (Missy Peregrym) who is ordered by the juvenile court to do time at an elite gymnastics academy run with military regimentation by a hardnosed coach (Jeff Bridges).
Still to be released in Australia is the independent film One Last Thing, which she filmed in New York last year with newcomer Michael Angarano, Cynthia Nixon and Ethan Hawke.
