Nadia Comaneci and Bart Conner are the parents of a baby boy, and the early scouting report is in.
"He already has definition in his deltoids and his biceps," said Conner, who won two gold medals at the 1984 Olympics.
Dylan Paul was born Saturday, the first child for the gold-medal winning gymnasts.
"We've been through a lot of high moments in our life in sports through what we accomplished but this is just something that is totally unique," Comaneci, the first Olympian to score a perfect 10, told The Associated Press by phone Sunday.
Comaneci was due to deliver in July, the 30th anniversary of her seven perfect 10s at the Montreal Games.
"He's a few weeks early, so he's a little small -- 4 pounds, 10 ounces -- but he's just fantastic. He's awesome, in fact. He's really cute," Conner said.
Comaneci said she had already received a call from the prime minister of Romania and many others who wanted to share in their joy.
"It's just something that's totally a part of you," Comaneci said. "As Bart said, it's a miracle because you stare at the little child and you just don't want to go away. You just stare at them."
Conner described his emotions as a mixture of excitement, fear, elation and terror.
"There's every emotion laid out there on the table," Conner said. "It's pretty overwhelming."
The 44-year-old Comaneci delivered Dylan by Caesarean section Saturday morning. The delivery room staff created a poster proclaiming the boy a "perfect 10."
"Everything's great. We'll probably stay here a couple of days and then go home. So far, everything looks good. He's strong and healthy and Mom is doing great," said Conner, 48.
Comaneci won nine medals at the Montreal and Moscow Games, including five gold medals. She defected from Romania in 1989 and moved to Norman two years later. The couple married in Bucharest, Romania, in 1996 and still live in Oklahoma, where Conner won NCAA all-around titles in 1977 and 1978 to lead the Sooners to back-to-back national championships.
They now run several gymnastics-related businesses there, including the Bart Conner Gymnastics Academy. The couple announced Dylan's birth on the Web site for their magazine, International Gymnast.
"We're entering into a new territory that is completely new for us, Conner said. "It's a chapter in our book that we're very excited about opening and starting to write."
