Alastair Stewart's Christening

In honour of his dad Rod Stewart's Scottish heritage, Alastair Wallace Stewart was christened at South Leith Parish Church in Edinburgh on Sunday. The millionaire rocker and his fiancée Penny Lancaster delighted local residents by holding the ceremony at a regular morning service.

At only seven months old the little lad proved - like his dad - he can be quite a star attraction, charming everyone by behaving perfectly on his special day.

Bells rang out as the family emerged from a red chauffeur-driven Jaguar to enter the oldest church in Leith - the area where Alastair's paternal grandfather Bob was born.

The flamboyant 61-year-old singer turned up wearing a smart red kilt in the Royal Stewart tartan, while Penny was in a long white dress and white gloves, and carrying a ladylike white parasol. Rod's daughters, 26-year-old Kimberly from his marriage to Alana Stewart, and 19-year-old Ruby, whose mother is model Kelly Emberg, were also with them.

Alastair's proud parents chose his name because of its Scots origin, while Wallace is a tribute to his mum's grandfather, who died in 2003.

Throughout the ceremony, the little boy was as good as gold, remaining quiet, eyes wide open as he took in his surroundings. After the baptism Reverend Ian Gilmour said: "The baby was very relaxed and happy throughout. I wondered if he had a good set of lungs like his father, but he didn't reveal that to us."
