Supermodel mom Liya Kebede shows off her new kids’ clothing line with some help from her daughter Raee, 2, in next months issue of Cookie Magazine. The busy mother of two is a model, an actress, an activist, and has just introduced her new clothing line, Lemlem, which is made in her home country of Ethiopia.
Kebede is married to Ethiopian hedge fund manager Kassy Kebede. In addition to Raee, the couple have a seven-year-old son, Suhul.
Here are some highlights from the article:
On her pride in Lemlem and it's ties to her homeland:
"It's wonderful to be able to be able to donate and help people. Yet at the end of the day, Ethiopia has to get out of poverty by economic power and by giving people jobs - it's like that expression 'Give a man a fish .... teach a man to fish' "
On the collection:
"They are chic and ethnic. Made with traditional techniques like embroidery and hand weaving."
On working from home:
"Everything ends up taking that much longer. Whether its the foundation's needs or a speech I have to give or modelling, things get done according to priority. Sometimes I feel I should get more organized, but then I think 'Why fight it?' This is my system: Just do what needs to be done next."
Lemlem is currently available at Barney's New York.
