Kelly Rutherford, 39, is content being an "older" mom. The actress welcomed son Hermes, 1, with husband Daniel Giersch last year.“I think a lot of us wait,” says the Gossip Girl star. “We have our careers, and then we say ‘OK, I’ve got this window of time, and like Halle, you grab a young man and you have a child.’ Like Mira Sorvino. ‘You’re it, let’s go.’ We want our babies. We want to have that experience.”
Because she established her career prior to having Hermes, she believes that she has more time to devote to being a focused mom. “My husband and I haven’t had too much help. We’ve been very hands-on. I didn’t wait this long to hand my baby over to a nanny. We stroll, we walk, I’m up at night with him. That’s part of it, really being present.”
“Being with my son and watching him play is relaxing for me,” she says.
