Please Keep Minneapolis in Your Thoughts

The city of Minneapolis -- where I live -- suffered a major tragedy this evening when one of the main bridges out of the city of Minneapolis over the Mississippi River collapsed. I actually drove over the same bridge at 2 PM this afternoon on my way home from a meeting. It was a hot, sunny day and the sunshine looked beautiful reflecting off the river with no hint of what was to come as commuters rushed home after work.

We have done a head count and my family is all safe and accounted for. I will be spending the evening calling friends and loved ones to try to ensure that everyone is home safely with their families.

Right now there are many injured and missing, please keep the city of Minneapolis in your thoughts this evening.

Emma, I didnt know you were in Minneapolis! I used to live in Mahtomedi and couldnt figure out where this bridge was? Even the news is vague about it. I know this must be a difficult time for you. I'll keep everyone there in my thoughts and prayers.

  8. It's the main bridge going North out of Minneapolis. Since it was the height of rush hour there were many commuters on it when it collapsed.

Right now one of my friends is listed among the missing. She has two little boys the same ages as my children.
