Britney Spears may be the covergirl of the September issue of Allure magazine, but don't expect any revealing insights from the popstar in the accompanying article --she didn't bother to show up for the four interview appointments the magazine set up with her.
The first time interview was cancelled by Spears because she was "delayed" by work in the recording studio. However, mere hours after the cancellation the paparazzi caught her at a salon, getting her nails done.
Another interview was cancelled while Britney was busy out shopping at Neiman Marcus.
Allure's editor-in-chief Linda Wells reveals in her editor’s letter that “Britney showed up for Allure’s cover shoot on time and ready to work,” but there were definitely moments of bizarre behavior by Spears.
“She was entirely un-self-conscious,” writes Wells. “She took off her wig and then stripped down to the waist, for no apparent reason, before sitting for hair and makeup.”
The magazine hits stands with no Spears' inteview -- just pictures and accompanying article titled "Britney on Hold" that alludes to her suffering from bipolar disorder.
“Her behavior suggests bipolar disorder,” says NYC psychotherapist Jan Greer. “The manic episodes with impulsivity and loss of control – the flashing, the head shaving, the hitting the photographer’s car with the umbrella – are what we see.”
