Angie Harmon Makes Sacrifices as a Working Mom

Angie Harmon is a working mom -- she just sometimes gets to dress up in fancy dresses and walk the red carpet. Next month the actress makes her return to network TV as one of the stars of ABC's Women's Murder Club.

In order to return to work, Harmon, husband Jason Sehorn, and their daughters, Finley Faith and Avery Grace, are ready to make some sacrifices. Harmon says, "Finley is about to start school, and of course I want to take her to school and pick her up, but I think these are the sacrifices you make."

She doesn't see her lifestyle as all that different from working moms everywhere. She says, "all mothers go through the exact same things. I call friends for advice. I lose my temper and feel horrible about it. But I love them, and they are my life.... It's not like I don't have my own wants and dreams anymore—it's just that the kids come first. It's primal."

There are moments when she's at her wits end and it is time to pass them off to their father. "When they turn into Children of the 'Horn," she jokes, "I'm like, 'Honey, the inmates are taking over the prison. Now come get your kids.'"

Her goal as a mom is simple: "to raise decent, kind human beings."

Like many moms, she wishes she could operate at the same speed as her girls focusing on life's basic functions: "Wake, eat, burn calories, sleep." Finley "has a six-pack and not an ounce of fat. She runs around nekkid all the time," Harmon says. "And her rear end is up on her shoulders, like her dad's. Avery, meanwhile, is in the big-stomach, droopy-butt phase. She looks like a delicious bread roll with Barney Rubble brick feet."

She and Sehorn would like to have at least one more child—"he wants one more, and I want two or three more, so I may have to get him drunk on date night," she jokes.
