After a month of rumors and a variety of photos of Nicole Richie carrying big purses in front of her belly, US Magazine is confirming that the petite star is expecting a baby with boyfriend Joel Madden. The magazine has confirmed the story with multiple sources and features the confirmation on their cover. She is reportedly approximately 12 weeks pregnant.“She is extremely excited right now,” says a source close to the star.
Richie reportedly announced the pregnancy with her mom Brenda and several close friends in early May.
In related news, Madden has been out shopping for an engagement ring with his twin brother Benji.
Both families are excited about the couple's news: "Everyone's happy, everyone's good, everyone's getting along," says a source.
It isn't all good news for the couple, The Simple Life star is due in court on July 11 to answer DUI charges stemming from her December 2006 arrest. If she's found guilty, she faces between 90 days to one year in jail because of a previous DUI conviction in 2003.
