Matt Damon regrets starving himself for his role in Courage Under Fire because of its long-term impact on his health. Damon lost nearly 50 pounds in order to play the role of a heroin addict in the 1996 movie.
Now with the perspective of the past 10 year, the actor admits that his strict exercise and diet regime was too extreme.
He says, "I went too far. I got sick and I wouldn't do that again because it was just too much. At the same time it helped the performance. I didn't have to act at all - I was a wreck. I was getting dizzy spells and hot flashes. I didn't say anything to anyone for a while because I was afraid I might be really ill."
