Sarah Jessica Parker Launches Bitten

Sarah Jessica Parker introduced the world to her new fashion collection, Bitten, for the reasonably priced chain Steve & Barry this morning on the Today show.

Having grown up in a family with a very tight budget, creating a line that was affordable was important to the star.

“I mean, I grew up with not a whole lot of access to things that were costly,” says Parker. “I come from a family where my mother had to be very intrepid and industrious about things. So I'm keenly aware of things not being accessible to people, especially to women and especially when it comes to fashion.”

She wanted to create a line that would appeal to a wide audience and had an eye on diversity while selecting the pieces.

“What appealed to me about this is the idea of making fashion accessible to all women in this country despite their economic status, their age, their size, their ethnic background, their shape, their anything. And I think it's sort of just democratization of fashion that I really love. "

Meanwhile, she says that the second round of negotiations for a Sex and the City are underway and the movie looks more and more like a reality.

“I feel more hopeful this time, but there still remains so much stuff, simple, logistical things to be done and hammered out,” Parker told Lauer.

"This is a very complicated puzzle to put back - not for reason that people speculate about because as far as I know all of the actresses want to be together again for this movie."

She added, "…it's a wonderful idea to ponder and I'm not being cagey but it's a complicated affair to get that show up and running for a finite period of time.”

  1. I don't dare get my hopes up again for this movie - it's been on again off again for so long now! As for "Bitten", I have to admit I was disappointed. I was expecting more playfulness, fun, and color. The only items I really liked were the cardigan that flares in the back and the little black polka dot dress. The rest was no different than the average fare at, say, Target.
