Britney Spears' mother is speaking out publically for the first time about the rough year her famous daughter has faced and how she's trying to get her act together."You go into a time in your life with the world watching and you are just trying to figure yourself out," Lynne Spears tells Us Weekly. "It's sad that the whole world had to watch her make mistakes that all of us have made at one time or another."
Earlier this year, Britney went through a public meltdown that included shaving her head and checking herself into rehab. Lynne reveals that her hair wasn't the only thing she cut out of her life at the time.
"She decided that she had to cut out everyone who was using her, and that included her parents," says a source close to Spears.
The estrangement was very difficult on her mom.
"Lynne was like Britney's best friend, so when Britney started partying and her mom tried to control her, she got mad," a family source explains.
The two reconciled for the first time in months on June 11 and are working themselves back to a closer relationship.
"Britney Jean Spears is the sweetest and the most sensitive and loving of all my children," says Lynne. "She's just figuring things out."
