Antonio Banderas wants to make sure his kids with Melanie Griffith realize that the whole world isn't like Hollywood and he refuses to let them be spoiled.
He said, "I don't give them whatever they ask for. They have to earn it. I tell the kids the world is not Hollywood. I've taken them to Mexico and Argentina when I've been making movies there so they could see how kids in different countries live. They've seen the shanty towns.
"I don't want them to think that the world is just full of beautiful cars and houses and everything you want."
Banderas and Griffith have one daughter, Stella, 10. He is also stepfather to Griffith's two children Dakota, 17, and Alexander, 21.
So far it looks like his parenting style is working with Stella.
He said, "My little baby, Stella, is a straight A-plus student. I don't know where she came from because I wasn't like that at all and neither was her mother.
"She plays and is sociable but when she gets home from school, she goes to her desk and does homework. I keep telling her, 'You don't have to study.' "
