Melanie Brown is ready to face Eddie Murphy's paternity denial head-on. The former Spice Girl, who welcomed duaghter Angel Iris Murphy Brown on April 3 says that there is "no doubt this is Eddie (Murphy's) baby. We both know this is Eddie's baby." And she is eager to prove the claim with a DNA test.
The singer shows off her new daughter in this week's issue of OK! magazine and talks about her relationship with Murphy and her hopes for the future.
Brown reveals that she and Murphy have only had one brief phone conversationin the past four months. She says, "I'm sure, at some point, we'll have to have some contact. The baby needs to be documented, and that needs the father's signature."
As for Murphy, his spokesperson refuses to comment on Murphy's personal life.
Brown gives some details of the couple's whirlwind five-month rrelationship. She says, "We were soul mates. … It was electrifying."
They even had had each other's names tattooed on their bodies just days after meeting. They met each other families and her daughter started home-schooling with his five children from his marriage to Nicole Mitchell Murphy.
She says that Murphy was there when she took the home pregnancy test and says of his reaction to the news, "He was over the moon."
Then just about as quickly as the romance started, it came to an end.
Brown had traveled to London to tell her mother the good news when a friend called to tell her about Murphy's comments to a Dutch TV station. In the interview, the actor questioned the paternity of the child and said the couple were no longer involved.
Brown returned to Los Angeles and called Murphy. He told her he'd call her back and never did.
Brown would like an explanation from the Dreamgirls star. She admits, "Maybe one day Eddie will tell me why this happened. I am now more confident and grounded than I have ever been."
