Marcia Cross admits that she is loving being a mom even more than she had expected. The Desperate Housewives star and husband Tom Mahoney welcomed twin daughters, Eden and Savannah, on February 20th.
"I wanted to be a member of that club so badly, and now I'm in and it's so much better than I even imagined," Cross says.
Marcia is settling into her new mom routine like an old pro. She says. "I feed, I burp, I change diapers, I pump. And then I have a tiny window of time to myself."
The couple is relishing in their girls' arrival as the couple were not sure if they would be able to have kids themselves. Marcia, 45, and Mahoney, 49, skipped their honeymoon and instead chose to try to conceive as quickly as possible.
"We did in vitro a week after we got married," she says. "We were supposed to go to Greece and Paris and have this fancy honeymoon, and I said, 'Let's stay put and see if we can't give this baby a chance.' "
Due to her age, Marcia was considered a high-risk pregnancy and was confined to bedrest midway through her pregnancy. Then four weeks before her due date, Cross was diagnosed with preeclampsia, a disorder characterized by dangerously high blood pressure that threatens both mother and baby. She was rushed to the hospital and gave birth via cesarean section within hours.
Her girls arrived healthy and mom was fine. Savannah weighed in at 6 lbs. 7 oz. and Eden weighed in at 5 lbs. 10 oz.
Although she doesn't completely rule out more kids but says: "I'm probably done, but I certainly can see why people keep going. I'm in heaven right now."
