Christy Turlington is blasting the industry that made her famous. Despite being one of modeling's four original supermodels, along with Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, and Naomi Campbell, Christy says she hated being known solely for her looks. She says, "It was a dull point in fashion and a lot of energy got projected on to us to generate some excitement. And I guess that's why it'll probably never happen again, because it was all smoke and mirrors. There wasn't really anything to it. When I was a teenager working as a model part-time it was fine. It was like a hobby. But as soon as I was only a model I hated it. I hated the idea that that's who you are, and that's who you're perceived as.
"How could I have spent so many years? So many hours? If I could add up the hours I spent letting people fuss and take light-meter readings and primp, it could make you scream."
Despite her lack of appreciation for theindustry, Turlington started her modeling comeback earlier this year as face of Maybelline.
