Nicholas Cage Defends Naming Son After a Fictional Superhero

Nicolas Cage is defending his choice of an unusual name for his son. The star has always been inspired by Superman and decided to name his son Kal-El after Clark Kent's Kryptonian name. He was surprised by the backlash he's received since announcing the name.

He says, "I thought Kal-El was an unusual name that not a lot of people knew about, and stood for something good. I'll bet you within five or 10 years, there will be a lot more Kal-Els. It just happens that my son is the only one right now."

  1. I dont see what the big deal is I mean it is their child they can him anything their heart desires. I for one like it mainly because it is different...

  2. I totally agree. Plus he's an off-beat guy himself, I would have been more surprised if he had chosen a conventional name.

  3. Why do people care what he named his kid? I think it's cute - and different - and there are hundreds of other names out there far stranger than the one he chose. Good for him. Ignore the naysayers.
