Baby News From David Caruso!

His show "CSI: Miami" is the number one television series in the world, but DAVID CARUSO is just as proud of another "baby" -- his seven-month-old son!

"It's great. Yeah, we're thrilled," David tells our own PAT O'BRIEN during a visit to the CBS program's set. "We're very, very lucky, and it's nice to have that little sanctum to go home to everyday and to have this fresh little guy there. He's amazing."

What's equally amazing is the immense popularity of "CSI: Miami" around the globe.

"It's pretty astonishing," says David. "What's interesting about the show and the character [David's Horatio Caine] is they seemed to have transcended culture."

So much so that David says much of the fan mail he receives from other countries is actually written in their indigenous language.

"They've embraced me and embraced the character on the show in their own native culture."

And David thinks it is due, in large part, to the universal connection people have with Horatio.

"He's not a corruptible man, and I think that we're searching for people to believe in and he is a man that has demonstrated on a very consistent basis that he will not be sidetracked, he will not be poisoned and he will not step back off the ethics that I think people need to have in our civil servants," explains David.

"We want to believe," he continues, "that the people that represent us in the world, the glue of society, are people that are real and are as pure as possible."

And as season number four nears its end, David serves up some inside information about where "CSI: Miami" is headed.

"We're about to depart on an entirely new storyline next season," David reveals. "It's very interesting. We are literally taking the show to another level. We are expanding our horizons."
