Dayanara Torres, former Miss Universe and former wife of Latin pop star Marc Anthony, underwent a three-hour surgery at a New York City hospital on March 3 to remove scar tissue that had created a blockage in her intestine, a rep for Torres confirms exclusively to Us Weekly. A source tells Us that Torres was overcome with abdominal pain on an LA to NY flight March 1 and was rushed to a hospital upon landing at JFK Airport. “She was in a lot of pain,” says a fellow flier. “The pilot was going to make a landing in Chicago, but Dayanara told him she could make it the extra hour or so to NY.” A friend tells Us that Torres is listed in stable condition and is expected to be out of the hospital in about five days. “She’s in good spirits, but in a lot of pain,” says the friend. Torres’ two children, both of whom she had with Athony, were scheduled to arrive in New York tonight to see their mother after spending the last week with Torres’ mother.
