Prince Christian Valdemar Henri John was Christened on Sunday. Christian was expected because Danish heirs have the tradition of alternating between Frederik (the Crown Prince's name) and Christian. Valdemar was the name of three well-respected Danish kings during the Middle Ages, while Henri and John are the names of the royal couple's fathers.
The little Prince has eight godparents: Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden; Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway; her husband, Crown Prince Haakon; Frederik's brother, Prince Joachim; and Prince Pavlos of Greece. Mary's sister, Jane Stephens, Hamish Campbell and Frederik's long-time friend from the navy Jeppe Handwerk.
